Official AI Policy
Berkeley Model United Nations is committed to upholding our value of education through the channel of Model UN, and the conference preparation learning experience from country research to position paper writing is integral. One of our main goals through our annual March conference is to encourage students to hone their research and writing skills as they engage with complex global topics. With the rise of AI, BMUN has adopted a clear policy on the use of AI in written aspects of conference, specifically for our position papers. The policy is as follows:
No text in a student’s position paper should be generated by AI
AI may be used ONLY for outlining purposes, acting as a guide to brainstorm. Your papers must have MLA in-text citations (and Works Cited) with academic sources to check
AI, such as ChatGPT, cannot be a cited source
BMUN’s Research Staff checks every position paper for AI Plagiarism. If caught, you will not be eligible for any committee awards
We appreciate your commitment to such a policy and anticipate your papers. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact us at info@bmun.org.
